I've been braving the wintery wonderland here in NYC and the SCBWI conference is this weekend! I've been spending too much time with the most ridiculous little dogs, so I have some illustrations in the works for them.
Here's the final Chemogirls cards, front and back images. I'm going to get a photo sesh going for these, but here these are to get them up here :)
All my hand lettered type (except for Chemogirls copyright and website)
Ya know, for someone who is on the computer so much, you would think I would be a blogaholic. Buuuut I'm not. Shame on me. I've spent some time in Orlando for the holidays, and now my travels are taking me northward into the wintery wonderland of NYC. I even got a REAL coat. I mean business. I am rrrrreally excited for the Children's Book Writer and Illustrator Conference! I'm going to get to take classes with huge names in children's books as well as art directors for some major publishing houses! There is going to a really incredible showcase as well. Woohoo! If that's not a motivational tool I don't know what is! It's a fabulous opportunity.
My art teacher I had growing up contacted me as well as my now wonderfully talented graphic designer friend Delane Meadows (www.delanemeadows.com) to come do a quick sidewalk art session in Winter Park, FL recently. The city asked the Central FL Sidewalk Art Association to help out with a new version of a 'first thursday' (its actually second thursday...yeah i dont get it either) art party down near Park Avenue (near Dexters for those Orlandoians). I decided on a spot illustration portraying some fabulously snooty folks that sometimes inhabit the area. I received some really kind emails and feedback from the local business owners. Thanks everyone!

I've been working on a fun greeting card series for a client Becky Best who has put together a draft for a great book, so this is our inexpensive marketing tool we've decided on. It is based on the positive side to women during chemo, and a quirky and comedic take on it. We're in the final art stage now so that's to come soon!
I've gotten involved in a great Alice and Wonderland Collaboration book through some friends I've made on Behance. It is a diverse group of Illustrators and Designers who are all executing a portion of the story. I immediately jumped on the opportunity to draw something pink fat and hairy, thus choosing to illustrate the pig baby passage. It was a really fun image to work out. Muahaha.
The publishing date (Go Capitalized Publishing go!) is hopefully the beginning of December so we can get copies sold for the holidays. It will be sold at Barnes & Nobles and Amazon....... SO BUY ONE! All proceeds are going to charity. Plus you get to stare at that pink belly as much of you want. Hehe.
When I can tear myself away from watching the Postseason and College Football (Gators you're KILLING me), I'll be posting my next two self assigned illustrations.
Holy crap where did the summer go? And what have I been doing? This is my first fall where I am not going back to school (sucks for you fellow scaddies! hehe), but I need to get working harder than ever.
I sat down and had a meeting with myself and decided I need to expand my portfolio to show different markets that my work could do well in. Patterns, food illustrations, editorial and more children's books. I've made a few great contacts lately so there should be some exciting work in the mix soon.
Here's a sneak peek at my foodsy pattern series! Here's my pies that are in the works...
How cute would this look on an apron or towel set? Yes, I though so too.
IT IS SO HOT OUTSIDE. It's making daily tasks hard to do. I've been trying to get out to the island in the middle of the marsh by my home to paint, but i just cant seem to do it as of yet. So....eventually, i'll have some field paintings up here.
The DEPARTURE show was fabulous! The turnout was incredible! It was packed the entire time, and I definitely didn't buy enough wine for the event. One Nine was a wonderful gallery to have a show. Here's some photos from the show....
BackTooEarth project is done! Here's how the gift card image turned out. Suuuuppper cute.
I did a quick turnaround project for Worldwide Bag Media for an episode of Cananda's "Grocery Bag". My illustrated props will we featured on the episode 'Bon Appetite Yall'
Preliminary work on my children's book dummy coming soon.
I am officially done with college! I had my last day of classes today, yet the work hasn't stopped! I'm still preparing last minute touches for the gallery show on friday, and I'm wrapping up my designs for the BackTooEarth project. I also made it into the CommArts show tonight at Savannah Station 5-7:30. Here's some recent goodies....
Alter-ego Haley = chef who can't stop eating everything. Haircuts are fun....especially when your siamese twins.
Field painting of my favorite stoop in Savannah.
Here's that poster with the type on it...type by Roxy Torres. Aged version on the right is actually what we went with. She also yellowed it a bit I think.
Website Template for Back Too Earth Organic Cookies! I love how cute this turned out!!
I I've been doing a ridiculous amount of storyboard for a SCAD Thesis music video collection by my wonderful boyfriend Bryce Phillips. I'm excited to see how they will turn out.
I have two hours to finish framing my work! YIKES!
